In RFEM it is possible to import CAD/BIM models through .ifc, .stp, .step, .igs, .iges and .sat files. RFEM is able to extrapolate the Analytical model, in order to get all the information necessary for the structural analysis.

The steps to import a CAD/BIM model are the following:

When creating a new model, go to the tab OPTIONS and tick the tick-box “Enable CAD/BIM model” as it is shown in the picture below:

After having created the model, go to Project Navigator – CAD/BIM model, and click on one of the two buttons available (.IFC or .STEP):

The following windows will appear:

By clicking OK, RFEM recognizes all the nodes, lines, materials, cross-sections, members, supports, surfaces and solids.
